Marissa Resmini started playing the violin at 4 years old after seeing Itzhak Perlman jam to “Put Down the Duckie” on Sesame Street.  From an early age, she has performed all around the Northern Virginia area with the American Youth Philharmonic, and in small ensembles.  She graduated in 2016 with a Bachelor of Arts from Virginia Commonwealth University where she studied jazz guitar with Mike Ess, classical guitar with David Toussaint, and violin with Susanna Klein.  She sat as concertmaster for the VCU Symphony her junior and senior years.  Marissa has also played in the orchestra pit for several Richmond theatre companies such as Cadence Theatre Company, Richmond Triangle Players, Swift Creek Mill Theatre, The Theatre Company at Fort Lee and TheatreLAB (most notably providing violin for the 2019 RTCC “Best Musical” award-winning production of “Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street”).  She has also recorded and performed improvisational violin with artists such as Fool’s Errand, The Dharma Bombs, McKinley Dixon, Jody Porter, Flicker and Flame, and AdGRod.  She cites her love of classic rock and heavy metal as her inspiration for deviating outside of conventional violin practices, and hopes to bring a fresh perspective into the classical community.

In her spare time, Marissa coaches youth martial arts, and practices Muay Thai and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu out of CSC RVA.  She is also the mother of one awesome cat, Dex-Starr.
