Welcome to the RPO!

It is my pleasure to welcome you to the online home of the Richmond Philharmonic Orchestra. Here you will find information on our orchestra's proud history, excellent members, and year-long concert schedule. This year's offerings include many favorites of the orchestra's and audiences alike: Tchaikovsky's Fifth Symphony, Gershwin's Concerto in F, Beethoven's Symphony No. 7 and Mozart's Symphony No. 40, among other excellent works by Berlioz, Haydn, Rossini, and Manuel de Falla. We are also happy to welcome three wonderful soloists this year in our classics concerts, all of which will be taking place at Virginia Commonwealth University's W. E. Singleton Center for the Performing Arts. As always, we hope that you'll also join us for our annual Holiday Concert at the James Center and our Father's Day concert at Sunday Park in Brandermill.

Please keep in mind as you browse that this webpage, for all its content, is only a small glimpse into the inspiring reality of the RPO. Our orchestra is comprised of fine musicians from all walks of life who dedicate themselves to the daily practice, weekly rehearsal, and year-long planning required to present a full season of the world's best music. They do this as volunteers, not only because they love to play, but also because they care passionately about sharing great music of the world with the Richmond community.

If you join us for our performances, you will see for yourself this inspiring example of shared passion, hard work and community service, not to mention enjoy the wonderful music it produces.
