Welcome to the RPO!

It's my pleasure to welcome you to the online home of the Richmond Philharmonic Orchestra. Here you will find information on our orchestra's proud history, excellent members, and yearlong concert schedule.

Please keep in mind as you browse that this webpage, for all its content, is only a small glimpse into the inspiring reality of the RPO. Our orchestra is comprised of fine musicians from all walks of life who dedicate themselves to the daily practice, weekly rehearsal, and year-long planning required to put on a full season of the world's best music. They do this as volunteers, not only because they love to play, but also because they care passionately about sharing great music of the world with the Richmond community. This year we'll perform in nearly ten different locations: schools, retirement communities, parks, the James Center, and our home base at Virginia Commonwealth University -- all as part of the effort to bring the excellent music we've programmed to the widest possible audience, regardless of that audience's ability to afford a concert ticket.

If you join us for our performances, you will see for yourself this inspiring example of shared passion, hard work and community service, not to mention enjoy the wonderful music it produces.
